On a warm, sunny Sunday morning I met wood-worker and spoon maker Jesse Bree at the The Old Girl in Lauriston, Vic. I drove the hour out of the city into the fresh country air with excited butterflies to be creating something again. Jesse and I first met several years ago when she hired me to shoot a portrait session, and instantly our quiet, introverted souls connected.
In the years we’ve spent apart, Jesse has created her own gorgeous brand of hand carved wooden wares from reclaimed timbers. Each piece is unique and made with love. I watched as she carved with her tools and stirred her cup of tea with a cute arrow stirrer she had crafted. Jesse is holding a Spoonsmithing workshop at The Old girl this weekend, and we were creating some images for the workshop and for her website! Afterwards we adventured to Mill Markets to spend our money on vintage clothes and trinkets, stopping for a toasted sandwiches and ice cool soda.
